A Heartfelt Pink moment

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

Today is the last post  with the theme of Pink.

I have taken a card template from the 'house of Zara' and used the lovely Heartfelt Creations backing papers and card to cut it out.

I have then stamped the Heartfelt Creations Rye Grass Flourish in Versamark and heat set with WOW Ticked Pink embossing powder.

I have then stamped in Versamark the Daisy Patch Flowers onto Pink Parchment and heat set with pastel Pink WOW embossing powder.  These I have cut out and decoupaged over the Rye Grass Flourish adding pearl brads as an accent.

The sentiment is from Lyndsey Mason.

Items from J & C Creations:
Heat Gun
Versamark
WOW embossing powder
Heartfelt Creations backing papers, Rye Grass Flourish and Daisy Patch Flower stamps.

The Change is Verdi Good!

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

Over at WOW this month is altering 3d projects.

3D project I pondered.  I was thinking really hard and giving myself a headache (not difficult) and I decided to have a mooch in my crafty stash and I came up with this......................... a fab new keyring and cufflinks.  The cufflinks I got from a car boot sale for 20 pence!  Not lookin' too good just plain metal..........

  • Firstly I rolled them in Versamark.
  • Then dipped them in Verdigris Embossing powder.
  • Then sponged them with Walnut Stain Distress Ink to give them a 'shabby' look.
  • I then sealed them with medium so the embossing did not come off.

Voila my new keyring and cufflinks.  Take Care...........................Sue

A Cover Up!!

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

Today I'm making a very pretty square tissue box with a template and black card.  This comes in a pack from Creative Expressions. (Please ring J & C to see if there are any in stock)

Firstly I cut out 2 templates and then used the Heartfelt Creations Shabby Chic Lace and Delicate Asters stamps  On a 3rd piece of black card I stamped out the Asters in Versamark and heat set with WOW Bright White embossing powder.

I then coloured these in with cosmic shimmer paints and let them dry before cutting them out. I then put 3 of the flowers together in a decoupage.  With the Lace stamp I used Versamark and WOW Bright White embossing powder and stamped this around each side at the bottom.

I then used cosmic shimmer glue and put the box together adding a piece of lace from the vintage ribbons over the lace stamp and adding 1  of the decoupage flowers.

All items highlighted can be purchased from the J & C Website.
Have a lovely week................Sue

Sew far Sew Good!

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

This week at J & C we are celebrating Home Decor and I have altered a 3d Collection Box available on the website. This gives me an excuse YET AGAIN!  to bring out my stash of goodies from car boot sale and charity shop finds!

I firstly took each piece (full instructions inside the packet-really easy) and painted them with rusty hinge distress ink re-inker and let it dry.  Be careful NOT to ink the tabs which slot into each other as it will cause the wood to swell and you will not be able to put the box together!  You can touch these up later.  Once dry you can use cosmic shimmer acrylic glue on the tabs.

Then comes the hard bit of deciding what to put in it!  I have decided to use cloth samples, bits from old watches, metal thimble and sewing kit ornaments (these were found in a trinket shop over a year ago, and I knew I would use them one day!)broaches, miniature pegs, beads, a cog from my old big shot with material pushed through the holes(yes really), zip, press studs, ribbon, glass vile bottle and a set of complimentary stamps from Creative Expressions called 'Vintage Sewing' by Sam Poole.

On the stamps I used Versamark and WOW Ebony embossing powder, then coloured them in with distress markers and cut them out.

The ribbons, glass vile, box, distress markers, Versamark,WOW embossing powders and beads are available from J & C's wonderful websites both the crafty side and the beady side!

The different fabrics are from my stash and I took little samples and sprayed them in Dylusion inks or cosmic shimmer sprays to give vintage and tie-dye effects.

On one or two pieces I stamped the Heartfelt Creations Burlap Background with Versamark then heat set with WOW ebony embossing powder. This looks like shabby material once you pull the fibres from around the sides giving it a frayed look.  I then put it all together.

The nice thing about this box is it is a wonderful present, made by you and you can put anything you like into it, or keep one for yourself and change what's in it every month depending on your mood and crafty trends. Really nice to hang on your wall and a topic of conversation over a cuppa!

Take time to have a look at other lovely items on the J & C websites both crafty and beads.

Take care...Sue

Love-ly Cogs

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

Over at J & C Creations today I have used the sticky back craft metal and run it through a Tim Holtz cog's embossing folder.  I have then added some black acrylic paint over the top then quickly took this off in different places to give a 'pitted look.'  I have then die cut some Sizzix Tim Holtz cogs in the same craft metal and again used acrylic paint to faux antique them.  I then glued some metal flower charms onto some of the background cogs.

Take a piece of white cardstock and stamp a background alphabet/script onto it.  Tear top and bottom edges and use on main script and edges  London Fog memento ink .

Take a piece of script ribbon from the Vintage ribbons and glue to the cardstock.  Over this add a piece of wire (I used a strip from chicken wire).

Next stamp out on the craft metal a strip of pens (These are Tim Holtz) Use an embossing tool to draw around the pens then turn the metal over and with a bigger ball tool  push the images out.  So this will not dent use some filler purchased from B & Q and fill the pushed out area a the back this raises the pens out at the front.  Once dried stick all embellishments to the front of the card.

Finish off with a saying or word.  I chose LOVE from my stash.

Hope these metal magic projects have given you some inspiration this week.  Take care....Sue

Metal Magic

Hi Everyone
Sue here

Today I have gone through my stash and delved right to the bottom of my bits and pieces and brought out all types of metallic stuff.

I firstly took a Ranger tag and painted it with, copper, gold and white acrylic paint, then put it through an m- bossability embossing folder then took some sandpaper and sanded the top of the raised area then went over it with rusty hinge distress ink.

I then die cut a Dollie from the Marianne Dies Circle Frame out of a piece of Engraving Art Copper foil board.  This is usually used for scratching pictures out of but I saw Sue Wilson do this technique where after I die cut the Dollie I went over it with a piece of sandpaper and it brought off the top layer of black paint leaving the copper foil underneath exposed.  I then put Versamark on the inner circle and heat set 3 layers of brass and copper pearl WOW embossing powder. On the third layer I had already inked up the Heartfelt Creations Burlap Background stamp with Stazon black ink then whilst hot pushed the stamp into the embossing powder giving it the mottled look.

I then took an ordinary zip and stitched this over the Dollie.  I then used a small piece of grungeboard and die cut a keyhole again distressing and antiqui-fying it!  The flourished are from the circle frame set.

The bottle, and metal clock are from the website and I added into the bottle copper WOW embossing powder.  The 'SECRET' sentiment, is from my stash and inked with alcohol inks. The springs are from pegs(which keeps the two parts together)Again coloured in with alcohol inks.

Metallica eat your heart out!

Take care.....Sue

Faux Layers

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

My submission today is a hot topic in the card making world.  How to make layers for a card without making layers?  In other words the card looks like it has layers but is in fact flat.

I firstly used the new Heartfelt Creations backing papers and ran this through a diamond embossing folder and highlighted the raised area with stormy sky distress ink.  I did the same with a plain piece of cardstock for the bottom of the card.

On a white piece of copy paper, I cut out the 2nd largest Spellbinder label 30 and placed the aperture part on the card.  I then used the Heartfelt Creations large elegant word stamp with Versamark, stamped through the aperture and then heat set with white WOW embossing powder.  I then used a stippling brush and the stormy sky distress ink and inked the aperture leaving the shape of label 30.  (I used a stippling brush as a normal blending tool or cut and dry would leave marks on the edges).  There will be a resist where the script has been stamped.

I then stamped Penny Black Flying Stars in Stazon over the script and shape.  Here I used a stamp positioner so that I got the stamp in the exact spot I wanted on the card.  I then cut the card and added a Martha Stuart punch to the edges.

I then cut  a Spellbinder d-lites whimsical tree out and used this as a flourish behind the Spellbinder d-lites medallion four put together as a flower, by cutting out 3 medallions from the Heartfelt Creations cardstock inked with stormy sky distress ink.  The centre is a brad.  The wrap at the bottom of the card is a new one by Sizzix.  The pearls are J & C Creations and the sentiment is from the Heartfelt Creations backing papers.

Try this out with your different spellbinders and see what fab backgrounds you can get to give your stamps a new lease of life.

Take care ......Sue

Mason's in the House!

Hi Everyone

Just to let you know of another fab demo I went to today at Card-io, Pemberton (see link to left) where Lindsay Mason was showing off her Doo Lally Pip stamps, distress inks, Ranger Products and her style.  Including her new sweatshirt which she designed herself!  I do like these stamps for off the wall projects, they remind me of the Stampotica range if you like that sort of thing.

Great tips and techniques and an hour to soak up all the crafty goodies in the shop.........

Hope you have a great week end....Sue

Storage solutions and a good rumage to boot!

Hi Everyone
Sue Here

I know it's not Thrifty Thursday but bear with me - today I'm showing you what I've done with all of my stamps.  They use to be on a shelf in files (as below) now they are in Really Useful Boxes coded and on A4 see through plates.

How did I come by this?  Well the other day I was looking at my stash and realised that some of my stamps had not seen the light of day of YEARS!  So I started to look at them, and the more I dug the more surprised I was and thought - I really must use that one and that one and that one.............  Some I am putting on EBay because my taste has changed but it was lovely to see some old favoriates and dare I say some which I have put away and never used!

EZMount Acrylic Storage Panels Full Size with TabsI then looked up how much the storage panels were to put my stamps on. So after buying a few packets I thought I could make my own as it was getting quite expensive.

I got out my laminator out and purchased a box of 100 laminating pouches (250 microns, which means they are thick and strong to hold your heaviest stamps-search for cheapest quote - mine were from Amazon) and ran them through without anything in between.  I then punched holes in the left side just in case I wanted to put them into a folder again.

I then got some A4 iridescent polypropylene (again you could use laminating folders and a piece of coloured card inside) and wrote on these the different categories, to use as dividers in the boxes.  Any stamps that I had pictures and paper packaging for, I put together on a double sided piece of white copy paper, gluing the packaging onto it and ran it through the laminator when full, so that at a glance I know what stamp it is and what make. You can also, once your laminating pouch is full of stamps, ink the stamps up with distress ink and run a piece of thin card over it - voila an instant record of your stamp stash, then you can laminate this to use as a record of what you have or use it as the base for your stamps so that you can see what stamps you have missing before you put the storage panel away.

I have then put them into categories such as Christmas, Animals, Children, Tim Holtz, etc and written this on the front of the box for easy reference.  As you can see I have used 3 Really Useful Boxes (I'm addicted to these big time) all getting full with my stamps in.

Yes this has took me 3 days on and off but it now looks really good on my shelf.

Hope I've inspired you to have a look at your stash and have a sort out....take care....Sue
